Standing on the Side of Love, founded on the UU Seven Principles, NoVA LUUP adds a UU voice of Love and Justice to the Virginia Legislature. Specifically, we address GLBT and Choice, issues that lacked a progressive faith-based presence in the Commonwealth -- until now. To learn more about NoVA LUUP, including how our Legislative Agenda is decided, visit our "About" page. Lobby Day Jan. 27 THANK YOU!! Our one big lobby day for the 2010 Virginia Legislative session, Weds. Jan. 27 - was a big success! We had at least 50 calls and/or e-mails to members of the Northern Virginia delegation to the Virginia Legis- lature. Relationships were renewed or began that will provide us with the basis for all of our future efforts to advance our Seven Principle- based effort for love and justice. The 2010 session is the 391st meeting of the Virginia General Assembly. (Did you catch that -- 391 years of meetings of the people's representatives. It's the oldest legislative body in the Western Hemisphere!) In the meantime, please take a look at our 2010 ISSUE PAPERS. These are one pagers that we use in meetings with legislators and to keep newcomers informed of our positions, which are always founded upon our UU faith.
And check out the bills we are tracking at NoVA LUUP's Portfolio. There are 2,442 bills in consideration in this year's session (in recent years there were often more than 3,000!!). NoVA LUUP is tracking just 29, but that's more than enough to take our UU voice of love & justice to Richmond (and to keep this all volunteer organization very busy.)
